A Thought for Every Word

Stray

Poster child for morning coffee
she stumbles out of bed
Clutching at the thinning tee shirt
and shaking her pretty head

Where did she wind up
after the night was through
A darkened world unfamiliar
furniture all askew

She tiptoes across the carpet
and steps on cold tile
Bent and weary from the night
her mouth is full of bile

Wicked words she tosses
and mews at her silhouette
Will he keep her this time
she’ll take what she can get

A bowl of milk sits waiting
filled up to the brim
She is sorely tempted
to spend her life with him

Feeling a little better
from sleeping in a warm room
She curls up against his shoulder
and waits for love to bloom

Digital World ~ Haiku

Ticking clocks cry out
Second hand movement ceases
Analog demise

Mariner

Breathes there a man who knows the wind
and the seas as they swell and rise

Breathes there a man who knows the moon
and her vengeful tug at the tides

Breathes there a man who knows the thrill
that rides on the seagull’s cries

There breathes a man who knows his path
under the velvet star lit skies

For the coasties all…

Haiku ~ 100 Degrees

Sweat stains on cool sheets
Wet kisses on swollen lips
Summer interlude

Endless Cycles

What made me think that this was any different
than all the times
before

Promises never made but implied is the mistake
I make over and over
again

I listen but never really hear when the words
change to leave me
out

I give my heart every time and it beats
hard in my chest for
nothing

Sunset ~ Haiku

silhouetted sky
a painter’s vibrant palette
Nature’s miracle

Caress ~ Haiku

Folds of scented skin
Warm taste of sex on wet lips
Lovers embracing

Addiction ~ Haiku

Screeching pain ridden

Sentences of certain death

Stainless steel needles

Death Mask ~ Haiku

Veil of gray shadow
Salted tears no longer fall
Eternal repose

1960s Obstruction

Did it hurt when he took you
Thrust for thrust in small rooms
Dust thick on bakelite surfaces
Sealed by years of neglect

The cat on the wall wagged its tail
The speckled counter top blistered under the heat
Crocheted trivets in muted technicolor
Boxed in moments of regret

He pinned you down and hurt you
Black and white memories
Metal cups with little sweaters catching dew drops
A hole in which to hide

Sunken treasure and mermaids
Driftwood and gritty residue on white bread
Star gazing with cosmonauts and missiles
Waving goodbye to childlike dioramas
